It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

As the holiday season approaches, many people are looking forward to taking some time off from work to spend with their loved ones and recharge their batteries.

However, for many people (including myself), the idea of disconnecting from work completely can be daunting, especially if we are used to being constantly connected to our work emails and phone.

Here are six tips to help you disconnect from work while on Christmas holiday and make the most of your time off.

Plan ahead

Before you go on vacation, take some time to plan out your time off and make sure that everything at work is in order. This might include delegating tasks to your colleagues, setting up automatic responses to emails, and letting your clients know that you will be unavailable during a certain period. By doing this, you can ensure that you are not overwhelmed with work when you return from vacation.

Set boundaries

It can be tempting to check your work email or answer calls from clients while on vacation, but it is important to set boundaries for yourself. Decide ahead of time how often you will check your email and for how long, and stick to that schedule. If you have hard time setting boundaries, consider turning off notifications on your phone or leaving your work phone at home.

Disconnect from technology

In today’s world, it can be difficult to disconnect from technology completely, but it is important to unplug from time to time. Consider leaving your work laptop at home and using your vacation time to disconnect from the internet and social media. This will allow you to fully relax and enjoy your time off.

Find activities

Instead of focusing on work, try to find activities that you enjoy and that don’t involve work. This might include spending time with family and friends, going for a hike, or trying a new hobby. You can take your mind off work and fully relax by doing things that you enjoy.

Use the time to recharge

Vacation time is an excellent opportunity to recharge your batteries and return to work feeling refreshed and ready to tackle new challenges. Consider using your time off to do things that help you relax and recharge, such as getting enough sleep, exercising, and eating well.

Don’t beat yourself up

It is normal to feel guilty about taking time off from work, especially if you are used to being constantly connected. However, it is essential to remember that taking time off is good for you and will ultimately make you more productive when you return to work. So, don’t beat yourself up if you have a hard time disconnecting from work, and remember to enjoy your vacation.

Spread the sparkles!

Disconnecting from work on Christmas holidays can be challenging, but it is important for your mental health and well-being. By planning ahead, setting boundaries, disconnecting from technology, finding activities that don’t involve work, using the time to recharge, and not beating yourself up, you can fully enjoy your time off and return to work feeling refreshed and ready to tackle new challenges.
